Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Marietta Owner’s Guide

If your Rotobrush system isn’t pulling the way it used to, the coil is usually the first place we look. A Rotobrush coil cleaning in Marietta typically runs between $145 and $280 installed, depending on which Rotobrush model you’re running and how far gone the coil is. Most mornings we can have a technician out the same day with the right coil on the truck.

Here’s the pattern we see over and over: a contractor finishes a job, packs the Rotobrush back into the van, and doesn’t think about the coil again until the next job. But every time that system runs, dust, lint, and moisture work their way into the coil fins. Over months of use across Marietta’s humid summers, a film builds up on the coil surface. Airflow drops. The motor works harder. Then one afternoon the unit overheats mid-job or throws a thermal code, and that’s when we get the call. It’s rarely a sudden failure. It’s a slow decline that finally hits a wall.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

We work on coil cleaning across the Rotobrush lineup, including the aiR+ series, the R5000, and the older R36 and R50 units still running strong in plenty of Marietta vans. The coil itself sits in the recovery tank assembly, and the part number varies by production year even within the same model line. If you can read the serial plate on the tank, that gets us to the right match fastest.

Before you buy anything, there’s one compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Rotobrush changed coil dimensions mid-production on the aiR+ line, so a coil from a 2018 unit won’t always seat correctly in a 2021 tank. The mounting tabs are the tell. Older tabs are welded flat; newer ones have a slight offset. We keep a reference chart in the truck and match the coil to the serial number rather than guessing. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Rotobrush specifically, we stock OEM coils because the aftermarket versions we’ve tested in the field haven’t held up to the stator heat these units generate. It’s not a place to save forty dollars.

Kestrel Air Duct Marietta is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Rotobrush, but we run their equipment daily and stock the parts that actually fail in this climate.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Cleaning Is Failing

  • Reduced suction at the wand. The coil is clogged enough that airflow through the recovery tank has dropped. You’ll notice it first on the return side of a ranch house in East Cobb, where duct runs are long and the system is already working hard.
  • The motor runs hot and shuts down mid-job. A dirty coil can’t shed heat the way it should. The thermal protection trips after twenty or thirty minutes of continuous use, then resets when it cools. It’ll get worse every week until it’s addressed.
  • Water pooling at the bottom of the recovery tank. This is the Marietta humidity signature. Moist air condenses on the coil, and the resulting sludge traps lint faster than dry debris ever would. If you’re draining the tank more often than you used to, the coil needs attention.
  • A burning or musty smell when the unit runs. Coated coils capture organic material that breaks down slowly. The smell is the giveaway that the buildup has been there a while, and it means the coil’s efficiency has dropped well below spec.
  • Visible film or gray paste on the coil fins. Pop the tank lid and look. If the fins don’t look like metal anymore, the coil isn’t doing its job. Rinsing it with a garden hose won’t cut through a season’s worth of compressed lint and dust.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For most Rotobrush units in Marietta, a coil cleaning and replacement runs between $145 and $280 installed. The parts cost is the smaller piece; the labor is where the range comes from, because getting the old coil out without damaging the recovery tank takes patience on the older R-series units. We quote a written price before we touch a bolt, and that number doesn’t move. The Kingswell Guarantee is a standing part of every job we run: written price first, a defined arrival window, a clean work area when we leave, and a written guarantee on the replacement coil. If it fails inside the guarantee period, we come back free. That’s not a courtesy; it’s in writing.

Dale Whitmore, our owner, has spent enough years pulling these units apart to know that a coil swap on a Rotobrush is straightforward on the bench and miserable in a hot van. We do it right the first time and include a quick test-run to confirm suction numbers before we hand the unit back.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check the coil yourself. Pop the tank lid, look at the fins, and if you see that gray paste, you’ve found the problem. No danger in looking, and it’ll tell you what you’re dealing with before you call anyone.

Where DIY goes wrong on a Rotobrush coil is the removal. The coil sits under tension in the tank assembly, and the wiring runs through a sealed grommet that’s easy to tear if you don’t know how it releases. A torn grommet lets moisture into the electrical housing, and that turns a $180 coil job into a $400 motor replacement. We’ve seen it happen more than once on units brought into us from Marietta driveways. If you’re not sure, call (762) 533-6494 and let one of our techs look at it. The diagnosis is quick, and you’ll get a straight price either way.
